Prahlad Kumar Singh, one of the Gandhian thinkers and one of the advisers to the Odisha Madamukti Abhiyan, welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to refrain from smoking and alcohol to prevent the epidemic.

Today, the general public has reiterated its advice to abstain from smoking and alcohol, not to spit so much, to wash hands frequently, to wear yoga masks every day and to do yoga pranayama every day.

He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: "One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure ... there are going to be some difficult decisions for government".  Last March, when the central government announced the first phase of the shutdown, all liquor stores across the country were closed, and the sale of liquor, bidis, cigarettes, gutkha and khaini was also banned.  The ban was in force during the second phase of the lockout.  However, he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Lukashenko's government.

Therefore, the people need to heed the call of the Prime Minister to abstain from smoking, alcohol and other drugs in this regard and the state government with the help of all these narcotics such as the Gangot clean-up campaign from Gangotri.  Prime Minister Shri Modi has urged Mr. Singh to take immediate action.
