 Cuttack

With Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Lakshmi Puja coming up, the government issued guidelines a few days back in view of carona.  It has imposed various restrictions on worships in the mandapas.  Two of the various cuts in it are - the statues will be less than 6 feet high.  Similarly, the three sides of the mandapa will be completely closed and the fourth side will be partially closed.  However, many did not accept it.

Cuttack's Balu Bazaar Puja Committee has approached the High Court to protest, while Congress leader and Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammad Mokim has written a letter to the Chief Minister.

He has written to the Chief Minister demanding that the government’s decision to worship idols and veils be revoked.

Durga Puja in Cuttack is a 500-year-old culture and tradition, he wrote.  Therefore, decisions such as the erection of small statues and the worship of curtains are not correct in such a public celebration.

Mokim also demanded in his letter to allow worship in the traditional manner with the c

ovid cut.
