Four senior IPS officers of the Odisha cadre have been removed from the Central Deputation.  Two have completed their terms of service, one from the center and one from the center before being hired.  Shortly before taking office, there was a heated debate over the cancellation of the appointment of senior IPS officer Himanshu Lal.  No clear reason for such a sudden decision by the central government is known.  However, after the four returned from the center, there were indications of a slight change at the IPS level in the state.  Himanshu Lal, a 2003 batch IPS officer, was appointed as a Class 1 officer in the Key Cabinet Secretariat.  During his four-year central deputation, he was appointed to the Research and Analysis Wing (R).  But his appointment was abruptly canceled and he was returned to Odisha.  So on his return to Odisha, he joined the police headquarters.  The exact cause of the dismissal is not known, but social media is blaming it.  He had previously been active on social media, and his appointment has been rumored to have been canceled due to multiple posts.  Satyajit Nayak, a 2009 batch IPS officer who joined the Central Deputation as an NIA SP, has to return early.  He was sent to the Central Deputation for five years, but was returned within a year.  The reason behind this is also not clear.
