 NIT (National Eligibility Low Entrance Test) has been held across the country today for enrollment in medical courses.  Preliminary data show that between 75% and 80% of students took the test offline during the COVID-18 cut-off.  A total of 1.545 lakh students registered, while about two lakh candidates were absent.  Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokharial Nish tweeted today to thank all the Chief Ministers and the Director General of the NTA for all kinds of cooperation and good conduct in the exams.  The test was conducted in 13 languages, including Oriya.  However, 6% of the students took the exam in English, 12% in Hindi and 11% in other languages.  It is reported that less than 1% of the students took the exam in Oriya language.  Karona positive students were not given the opportunity in the exam.  It will be announced that they will be tested later.  The results of the entrance exams, which are held for enrollment in one lakh MBBS and BDS courses in the country, will be released in the second week of October, the NTA said.
